Skinhead thing was so lame.............skinheads in Singapore are SO
clueless about the whole movement.......like those young kids at the
beginning, they were saying like - oh, it's a culture....then when asked
WHAT exactly the "skinhead" culture is, they replied something like: to
hang out with friends and get drunk or
whatever...............umm..............sure...........so the mama at
the coffee shop near my house is also a skinhead? The mat passed out at
the void deck is also a skinhead? Geez...................wait til they
meet the real skinheads from UK or whatever.....they'll pee in their
(tapered) pants..... Do they even know WHY skinheads shave their heads? Or wear boots? or suspenders? Or do the things that they do? ?
At least the "older" ones were a little more "learned" than the
greenhorns......but still, what's the point of being a skinhead without
the "cause"? It's not a culture or a fashion u adopt cos it seems cool.
Yes, it's a way of life - but the ones here in Singapore don't even
adopt that "way of life" - meaning they're all fake...u heard me...
F-A-K-E (yay, I can spell...). Ok off-topic....my bad.....

the skins here are really living it or not we can never be sure unless
we know every single one of them... because in every majority there is
always the minority.

misguided passion. It doesnt make any sense at all, beause even though
they know any of the idealogies behind the "tradition" and what not it
is in no way relevant to the Singaporean society. Whats worse is
that they so loosely use the term "tradition" when they themselves
"hilang adat" as we malays put it. Why chase foreign culture when ur
forgetting the ways of ur own flesh and blood. Kedoingdoings!

PuSSyCaTPosted: Feb 20 2004, 12:16 AM Ok....I started this whole off-topic thing.....but nvm...shall continue it anyways... kekeke Alright
- the so-called "skinheads" (majority of them) in Singapore think it's
all abt the fashion (what u wear, how many pair of boots u own, how many
times u nicked ur head and nearly bled to death while shaving) and the
"violent" lifestyle. But it's not JUST abt that!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may not
BE a skinhead myself or have a Degree in the skinhead culture etc etc,
but at least I know well enough that skinheads are sort of vigilantes or
anarchists who wanna take the law into their own hands cos they're
unhappy/ unsatisfied with what their government is doing (or NOT for
that matter). They don't meet up and exchange girls' phone numbers or share one bottle of Hooch among 42 ppl or show off their new threads. Of
course there's racism involved - that's how it was originally (I'm not
promoting racism here alright?? But I'm trying to make a point.....). They
wear what they wear cos it's just their WORK CLOTHES. I don't think
Singapore boys have to wear jeans and boots to work at Pizza Hut right??
What's gonna happen there?? Extra hot cheese lands on your feet?? Skinheads are your average working people who believe in the bare neccessities and nothing fancy-schmancy or ladida. They
drink diesal cos they don't have enough cash to blow it all on booze -
and besides, drinking is mainly to keep warm - cos remember ppl, where
they come from, it's COLD.......... but in Singapore?? They drink juz to
get drunk? They wear puffy thick jackets to warm themselves frm the
occasional breeze? ?? Alright....before
I kena slammed by any Skinheads (not dat I give a toss tho), I'm gonna
sit back and listen to what y'all have to say.............

Which was what youve emphasized on..erkk so was that sarcasm? Oh have i ever mentioned? Khai Hearts Pussycat's articles

PuSSyCaTPosted: Feb 20 2004, 11:23 PM Hmm...yes...my point was a bit fuzzy wuzzy...hehe.... Ok, the Skinheads in the UK or whatever (the original ones) are vigilantes and anarchists who take the law into their own hands. The
*ahem* "Skinheads" in Singapore (MAJORITY OF THEM) just share one
bottle of Hooch with 42 friends and kick down dustbins and THINK they're
garang. Get what I mean? Oh yes, thank you for supporting my articles!! I'm glad u like them!! "Part 3" will be out some time next week.

giamPosted: Mar 10 2004, 08:20 PM hey guys..give them some slack la perhaps cos this is fundamentally a metal and not a hc/punk forum..there're some points being missed out on.. from
the sociological aspect, being in a particular group basically gives
people a sense of security and belonging. I believe in the freedom of
choice to association..if they feel that being skinhead is right for
them then i guess let them be. fyi, skinheads are not supposed to
be racist. that is a gross generalization. skinhead culture was started
in britain when many of these skinheads were members of the socialist
workers party (SWP), a left-wing party. Racist skinheads came later,
when British National Party (BNP). a far-right nationalist party,
recruited them in street fights against the socialist 'red' skins. Hence
it is unfair to term all skins as racist i guess.. in my honest
opinion, being racist is more of a personal choice thing so i wouldnt
attribute racism to a certain group unless it is really overtly racist
(some far-right political parties of the extremist sort).
